  • Study finds conservatives favor work-centered shows, while liberals prefer comedies

Want to find out someone’s political leanings? Ask them what is their favorite – and least favorite – TV show.

Consumer research firm Experian-Simmons, commissioned by Entertainment Weekly, prepared a survey of what self-identified “Liberal Democrats” and “Conservative Republicans” are likely to tune in to watch on the boob tube.

The findings show that media-savvy comedies with a sarcastic bite and morally ambiguous antiheroes attract liberals. Conservatives tend to watch serious, work-centered shows, along with reality competitions.

NBC’s “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreations” score high among Democrats, while History’s “Top Shot” and ABC’s “The Bachelor” earn nods from Republicans.

Discovery’s “Swamp Loggers?” Liberals loathe it. MTV’s “Jersey Shore?” Conservatives say “no thanks.”

Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart”: The favorite show among liberals was also found to be the least favorite among conservatives.

ABC’s “The View”: Generally speaking, shows that attract female viewers do better with Democrats, while male-friendly shows resonate with Republicans.

HBO’s “Treme”: Democrats love this drama about the rebuilding of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, while it has proved so unpopular with Republicans, the report had an asterisk because not enough conservatives had actually watched the show to score a result.

    The study also found:

    “Dog the Bounty Hunter”
    “Ghost Hunters”
    “The Price is Right”
    “Kitchen Nightmares”
    “The Ultimate Fighter”

The History Channel: “Only in America With Larry the Cable Guy,” “American Pickers,” “Pawn Stars” and “Swamp People”: All score high with Republicans.

ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and NBC’s “The Biggest Loser: According to the survey, Republicans enjoy competition-themed shows.

NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno”: Republicans #1 choice for late night.

    “South Park”
    “The Walking Dead”

And which show does everyone like?

    “The Middle.”
