Brad Pitt’s latest role as a globe-trotting, zombie-hunting United Nations employee turned out to be a life-saving opportunity on the set of his new sci-fi film, World War Z.

Pitt was filming a scene in Glasgow, Scotland’s George Square with 700 extras when a woman fell and the real-life action hero rushed in to save her.

“Lots of people hurt themselves, and Brad came to the rescue of a woman who slipped,” an insider explained to the Scottish Sun newspaper. “I don’t think she could believe it when Brad picked her up. He didn’t have time to speak to her, as it was mid-shoot. But she said afterwards how grateful she was, despite having a badly grazed knee.”

The distressed damsel wasn’t the only one who was roughed up the set. Many of the extras–all dressed as zombies–suffered from a variety of “bumps and scrapes.”

The number of people injured was enough that filming stopped and production sat down and had a “safety talk” with all the extras, the New York Daily News quotes the Scottish Sun as saying.

“World War Z” opens in theaters next year.
