  • TV Guide's newest reality show 'Nail Files' is a cut above the rest, star says

Katie Cazorla, star of 'Nail Files' (TV Guide)

    “Jersey Shore” fans, take note.

SallyAnn Salsano, creator of MTV’s favorite guilty pleasure, has produced another slice of life reality show—this time focusing on Katie Cazorla, the brash blonde proprietor of the Painted Nail, a mani-pedi palace in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.

Through sheer force of will, Cazorla, the HMIC (Head Manicurist in Charge) on TV Guide Channel’s new show “Nail Files,” has turned a suburban nail parlor on a non-descript block of Ventura Boulevard into one of LA’s favorite celebrity hot spots.

“I think stars love the Painted Nail because it’s something different and fun—it’s not your typical nail salon,” Cazorla told FOX411.com about her high-wattage clientele, who includes Hilary Duff, Vanessa Williams—and yes, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. “It’s more of place where you can hang out with your girlfriends, relax and have a cocktail!”

Born and raised in a small prison town in Upstate New York, Cazorla was determined to make her mark on Hollywood.

“I always say that I love it when people underestimate me,” says Cazorla, who lived out of her car when she first moved to Los Angeles. “They always see the glitter, the blonde hair and the boobies—and say, ‘Wow, she must be a real idiot.’ As soon as I open my mouth, they say, ‘Wait! She can speak in big sentences!’”

Cazorla, who is NOT a natural blonde (“my roots are really dark!”), welcomes the ribbing, “Everyone thinks that blonde girls who have reality shows are trashy bimbos who are really dumb—and usually, I would say that’s kind of the case—but I feel like I can break that stereotype.”

And even though Cazorla worked closely with Salsano producing “Nail Files,” she doesn’t necessarily approve of the antics seen on “Jersey Shore.”

“I don’t condone making out with random guys in a hot tub, ‘smooshing’ with people you meet on the street—and I don’t do ‘GTL,’” says Cazorla. “I have nothing in common with those kids. At first, I wasn’t even sure that SallyAnn would even like me. But I think she saw something in me that people would want to watch. And she just knows how to craft a really, really good show—I’ve totally put my trust in her.”

And unlike some of the cast members of Jersey Shore, Cazorla keeps her language lady-like.

“I didn’t want to come off as some trailer-trash trucker mouth,” explains Cazorla. “Instead of saying the ‘F’ word all day long, I come up with words that mean the same thing. Like, instead of, ‘Holy s___,’ I say, ‘Holy shizzballs!’ For the most part, I really make an effort not to swear.

“But I don’t know what happens sometimes—my mouth can get the best of me. My mom was always like, ‘Geez, listen to your sailor mouth!’ So I try to not be super-messy with my language. So if I say, ‘shizz,’ or ‘fudgesticks,’ it’s like family-friendly swearing.”

“Nail Files” premieres June 21 at 10pm ET/PT on TV Guide Channel.
