  • Former 'American Idol' host Kara DioGuardi reveals date rape in new book

    Meaghan Murphy |

Former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi suffered a turbulent couple of years hosting the hit singing competition, but it was nothing compared to what she confesses in her new autobiography, “A Helluva High Note.”

The Grammy-nominated songwriter reveals that she was molested as a child and was the victim of date rape.

DioGuardi wrote about a wide range of topics in “High Note,” but it is her date rape by a “fairly known producer” in the music industry that has grabbed the headlines, she told entertainment site Popeater.com.

“I have to admit it’s a bit jarring when you wake up and that’s the only thing being discussed from the book,” said DioGuardi. “At the same time, if it helps somebody out there I’m fine with it. To me it’s all about helping people.”

  • Arizona Safeway massacre already getting 'Law and Order' treatment, report says

    Meaghan Murphy |

The latest “ripped from the headlines” plot on the cop drama “Law & Order” is inspired by one of the more tragic episodes in our very recent past: the shooting of Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and massacre of five others at a grocery store just three months ago.

The episode, which is being filmed for the Los Angeles version of the series, started shooting Monday, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Federal Judge John Roll was killed, along with six other victims, including a small child, when a gunman attempted to assassinate Giffords, shooting her in the head at a “Congress on Your Corner” gathering outside of a suburban Tucson Safeway grocery store on January 8th.

Giffords has since made a miraculous recovery, improving her physical, cognitive and language abilities significantly since the attack.

A rep for “Law & Order: LA” emphasized to Entertainment Weekly that “the show is fiction,” but the account of the episode given by Entertainment Weekly made it obvious what the episode is based on.

What do you think of the timing?

  • Paul Reiser disses NBC on NBC's 'The Tonight Show'

    Meaghan Murphy |

Comedian Paul Reiser, who had a long-running hit on NBC with “Mad About You,” is not pleased about the network canceling his new show.

(Wait–Paul Reiser had a new show on NBC?)

The funnyman’s self-titled comedy lasted just two episodes before getting the axe from NBC honchos. On Monday night, Reiser laid into the network with his appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”—which the network had previously booked for him to, ahem, promote his new show.

“NBC, to my knowledge, they don’t traditionally make bad decisions. Have you heard that? I don’t know what your experience is,” Reiser deadpanned to Leno, who suffered his own humiliation at the hands of NBC over the confusion of whether Conan O’Brien was replacing Leno on “The Tonight Show.”

“It turns out they said we enjoy missing you more than actually having you,” Reiser joked. “But listen, I don’t take it personally. Listen, when you’re the last place network, you don’t want to jeopardize that. You’ve found your niche. Stay there. So I get it.”

    Zing!

Reiser also freaked out fellow guest Christina Aguilera, whose new show, “The Voice,” premieres on NBC this week.

“So now that you’ve scared the crap out of me…” she laughed.

Reiser tried to allay her fears, but it was waaaaay too late.

A couple of weeks ago, Kirstie Alley’s partner Maksim Chermovskiy’s leg gave out while supporting her during a deep backbend.

Last night, Karina Smirnoff wiped out when her partner Ralph Macchio’s weird costume flared out wide.

They should both have a dance-off tonight to Queen’s hit “Another One Bites the Dust.”

    Meaghan Murphy |

As the “Jersey Shore” gang pack for Florence, Italy for the fourth season of their MTV hit, Ronnie and Sammi will be sleeping in separate rooms.

“Sammi was having a fantastic time at her Bon Voyage party on April 16th—and Ronnie was nowhere in sight. They’re completely and totally over,” a guest at the Lott in New York tells FOX411.com exclusively. “Two guys from the San Diego chargers were totally flirting with her and she was definitely enjoying the attention.”

  • Marines take on Army and Britney Spears with YouTube hit

    Meaghan Murphy |

War zones seem to be a breeding ground for musical creativity these days.

Almost a year to the day after soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in Afghanistan created a video homage to Lady Gaga with their lip-synched version of “Telephone,” men and women from the Marines’ 266 Rein and HMLA 169 in Afghanistan have answered the Army with their own video: A lip-synching tour de force of Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me.”
