  • Tween sensation Rebecca Black receives death threats

Tween Internet sensation Rebecca Black is currently under police protection out of concern for her life.

The 13-year old, who earned over 110 million views on YouTube with her head-boppin’ hit “Friday,” has received two death threats.

“One of the threats came over the phone and another emailed,” Aniheim, CA police spokesperson Rick Martinez told “The threats were related to getting the music off the Internet or they would kill her. We are taking the threats very seriously.”

After her sudden and somewhat surprising rise to fame, Black was on the receiving end of countless nasty comments from random people on the Internet.

“We don’t hate you because you’re famous. You’re famous because we hate you,” read one typical comment.

“I hope you cut yourself,” read another. “I hope you’ll get an eating disorder so you’ll look pretty, and I hope you go cut and die.”

The cruel comments initially upset Black, but she was determined not to let the turkeys get her down.

“I think that’s an accomplishment, you know,” Black explained on Good Morning America. “Even a person that doesn’t like it. It’s gonna be stuck in their heads so, that’s the point of it.”

But Black’s latest threats are far more serious than idle Internet rants, and officials are taking care not to let anything happen to the tween singing sensation.

“Officers are keeping a watchful eye on her during this on-going investigation,” assured Martinez.
