  Whoopi Goldberg defends Mel Gibson

  Mel Gibson hasn’t been getting a lot of Hollywood criticism so far for the racist, sexist, and possibly illegal alleged rants his baby mama Oksana Grigorieva recorded.

  In fact – he even has a supporter!

  Whoopi Goldberg announced on “The View” Monday that whatever else Mel Gibson might be, he is not a racist.

  “I have had a long friendship with Mel,” Whoopi said. “You can say he’s being a bonehead, but I can’t sit and say that he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I don’t like what he’s done, make no mistake.”

  We’re with you on that last bit, Whoopi, but we’re not so sure about the former.

  Edward Norton reponds to reports he was dropped from 'The Avengers'

  Actor Edward Norton responded Monday to reports he was dumped from playing The Incredible Hulk in “The Avengers” movie because producers were not satisfied with his “creativity and collaborative spirit.”

  Norton, 40, was expected to star alongside stars Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth in the much-anticipated release but Marvel Studios issued a statement on the weekend that he would be replaced.

  Carrie Underwood marries hockey player boyfriend, heads to Tahiti for honeymoon

  Carrie Underwood’s rep confirmed to FOX411.com that the country star got hitched this weekend to Canadian hockey player Mike Fisher in an elegant private ceremony. Now they’re jetting off to Bora Bora and Tahiti for a romantic honeymoon.

  Five years after her debut on “American Idol,” it looks like Underwood’s still an old-fashioned American sweetheart. She and Fisher took their marriage vows at a Southern Georgia plantation (forgive us as we momentarily picture something straight out of “Gone with the Wind”) in a ceremony that featured classical music and the couple’s favorite Bible scriptures.

  Sam Taylor-Wood has baby girl with muuuuch younger hubby Aaron johnson

  We always thought that Ashton Kutcher was a little young for Demi Moore, but the romance of director Sam Taylor-Wood and ‘Kick-Ass’ actor Aaron Johnson just about takes the biscuit.

  Sam is a whopping 23 years older than her (barely) 20-year-old fiancé Aaron, roundly beating out the 15 year age gap between Ashton and Demi.

  The couple seems determined to make it last, though – and not just for their own sakes. There are kids in the picture too, now that Sam gave birth Wednesday July 7 to their daughter Wylda Rae.

  Congrats!

  When Sam and Aaron met, the circumstances for romance were hardly ideal – the then-married mother of two met the teenaged actor as his director for the 2009 film ‘Nowhere Boy.’ But love conquered all, as it is known to do, and by October 31 2009, they were engaged.

  The couple is fiercely defensive of their age difference.

  “I’m an old soul and she’s a young soul,” Johnson said in April. Sam took that a step farther and accused their relationship’s naysayers of being “totally sexist… I’ve never really thought of other people’s opinions, so why start now?”

  We thinks the old lady doth protest too much, but we hope for baby Wylda’s sake that they will have a successful and happy marriage.

  Alex forced to bow out of 'So You Think You Can Dance'

  It’s sad but it’s true — Alex is out of the race on “So You Think You Can Dance.”

  The ballet dancer turned hip-hop wunderkind has a lacerated Achilles tendon and must rest on doctor’s orders for the next three months (in addition to having an operation on Tuesday).

  Poor Alex looked genuinely devastated by this turn of events, and he basically wept for the entirety of Thursday night’s show. The bright side? He’s invited back next year, and we think he’s poised to make a killing.

  But the bad news for Alex was good news for Ashley and Billy, who found themselves in the bottom three on Thursday night. Before Nigel announced that Alex was out of the competition, we thought Ashley’s failure to draw votes was the big shocker of the night — she’s been doing so well!   Dina Lohan now pushing Lindsay's little sister Ali down same path, source says

  With Lindsay Lohan either in jail or in rehab for the foreseeable future, “momager” Dina Lohan is in Los Angeles strategizing how she will pay the bills and keep her family’s name in the media without her daughter’s help.

  Dina has been working the phones and making media appointments and interviews since Lindsay’s dramatic sentencing on Tuesday afternoon. One Lohan source tells us that some of the upcoming paid interviews will be a family affair and include 16 year-old Ali talking about details of her and Lindsay’s lives.

  Dina is sitting down for interviews solo this week to give Ali a little time to collect herself, but the mother-daughter pair will soon be appearing together, the insider said.

  Country singer Julianne Hough spied kissing Ryan Seacrest, report says

  “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest and “Dancing with the Stars” (“DWTS”) dancer Julianne Hough can no longer act so coy — they were spotted kissing on Seacrest’s yacht while on a romantic vacation in Portofino, Italy, the New York Post reported Thursday.

  Sources said a set of sensational photos now making the rounds show two-time “DWTS”-winner Hough, who is also a country singer, wrapping her legs around Seacrest as she greets him on board after jetting in from Atlanta.

  It was believed the lovebirds set sail for Monaco.

  Although the New York Post first reported that the two were dating two months ago, both refused to confirm they were an item. A rep for Seacrest did not answer the Post’s request for comment.
