  • Tools used in Elvis Presley's autopsy up for auction next month

Die-hard Elvis fans are facing a chance to own a unique, albeit incredibly creepy, piece of history.

In August, Elvis Presley fans will get to bid on the tools used to embalm and prepare Elvis’ body after he died. We’re not talking about the shirt he died in or a favorite wig. Items up for auction include rubber gloves, forceps and needle injectors that the mortician who prepared the King’s body for the private viewing kept.

Elvis died in 1977, but the instruments were only opened and used on the singer and never again. That must be what makes the estimated worth of them to be upwards of $14,000.

The auction will take place at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers on August 12. In addition to the tools, brushes and eye liner, the “John Doe” toe tag that was used after the original “Elvis Presley” toe tag was snatched in the hospital, will also be up for grabs.
