  How Martha Stewart saved Emeril Lagasse

  Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse cooked up some springtime vegetable pasta for the gang of Fox & Friends and talked about how Martha Stewart saved him when he needed it the most.

  With a new show, “The Emeril Lagasse Show,” and countless restaurants open nationwide, we forget that Lagasse almost lost it all when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. His Food Network contract was up and his three New Orleans restaurants made him suffer huge financial losses.

  Just when he needed it the most, Martha Stewart came to the rescue. “She showed up at a tough time when I thought the whole ship might be going down,” Lagasse has said. “Basically, what I have now is a business partner.”

  “She’s a great lady, one of the hardest working ladies I know in the business,” Lagasse told Fox & Friends. “She’s incredible.”

  The incredible Ms. Stewart was appropriately the first guest on the chef’s new show, which is a new take on the traditional cooking show. “This is more than cooking,” explained the host. “We have a great house band – Dave Koz – and some great studio musicians.”

  Guests will include celebrities of every caliber including actors and athletes. “We have [NFL star] Eli Manning coming on the show and he brings a few of the big offensive guys with him and they’re massive. They eat about six pounds of meat in a shot.”

  Lagasse has been known as a pioneer for cooking shows as many people try to emulate his work and make similar shows. But he doesn’t mind the copiers, “It’s a nice problem to have,” he said.

  Next up, he would like to work on something that would get viewers even more involved in the cooking. He wants to invent “smell-evision,” he laughs. “I’ve been saying that for years.”

  Kate Gosselin's eight children are coming back to television

  Kate’s eight are free to appear on their mom’s upcoming reality show.

  A spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry says producers have obtained child-labor permits for Kate Gosselin’s twins and sextuplets to appear with their mother on a series of TLC specials, “Kate Plus 8.”

  Troy Thompson said Monday that the permits are good for six months, then must be renewed.

  Pennsylvania regulators concluded last month that permits should have been obtained for Gosselin’s old show, “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” The series ended last year when Kate split with her husband, Jon.

  No legal action was taken, but the producers agreed to submit paperwork for any future taping.

  Snooki prevails in latest 'Jersey Shore' bar fight caught on tape

  This time, Snooki was the one doing the damage in a bar brawl caught on tape.

  In Season One of MTV’s smash reality series “Jersey Shore,” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi became famous for getting her faced smashed by a guy in a bar fight.

  This weekend, Snooki turned the tables.

  The “Shore” star was out with her reality TV friends at a bar in Miami, where Season Two is taping, when a red-baseball-cap-wearing patron whispered something to Snooki to which Snooki did not take a liking.

  In a video posted by gossip site RadarOnline.com, Snooki then slaps the bar whisperer several times and throws her food at him, followed soon after by a cup of water, and then the cup holding said water.

  Red-baseball-cap-guy retaliates by tossing a red slushy drink Snooki’s way. Said slushy merely glances off of Snook’s shoulder.

  So, in her career of bar fights caught on tape, Snooki is now battling .500.

  Bret Michaels in hospital with a massive brain hemorrhage, report says

  Bret Michaels was rushed to the hospital Thursday night with a  massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, People.com is reporting.

  Michaels, 47, is in critical condition.

  The ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ star was rushed to the hospital after an excruciating headache, according to the report.

  “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation,” a source told People.com.

  Michaels had an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio, Texas, on April 12, 2010, and broke his nose in June, 2009 during a Tony Awards telecast when part of the set lowered onto his head. Michaels also has diabetes.

  There is no word whether his hemorrhage is related to any of these things.

  A subarachnoid hemorrhage is bleeding in the space between the brain’s arachnoid and pial membranes.

  Giuliana Rancic loses the I-want-to-have-a-baby weight

  E! News host Giuliana Rancic has made it public knowledge that she and husband Bill, have unsuccessfully been trying to get pregnant for over a year.

  The couple has tried various treatments and undergone several fertility tests and a few months ago, Giuliana’s doctor recommended that she gain 5-10 pounds to help the process along.

  “The doctor told me, ‘Gain five pounds.’ I gained seven. I didn’t get pregnant,” she laments. “And I got mad at the doctor. I did everything he wanted me to do.”

  “I work in a really superficial industry,” she told US Magazine after the weight gain. “I am getting Google Alerts saying, ‘You look good with the weight gain.’ They don’t realize they’re being mean by saying you look good fatter. It’s enough to drive any girl a little crazy.”

  So she decided to drop the weight, and stat. “I’m a very open person, I’m insecure,” she told “The View.”

  Songstress Brandy, has a new show on VH1 with her famous little brother, Ray J.

  “Brandy & Ray J: A Family Affair” chronicles the lives of the young musicians and their famous parents, Sonja and Willie Norwood. And as with any reality show, this one is airing all their dirty laundry and opening fans up to a world of things they didn’t know about Brandy.

  For starters – where her name came from.

  “I named her after the neighbor’s dog,” her mom tells Fox & Friends. “She was very pretty and the dog was very pretty… And then there was a song after that named Brandy and I just loved the name Brandy.”

  Archie Comics introduces first gay character, names him Kevin

  The long-running U.S. comic-book series “Archie Comics” will introduce a new classmate to Riverdale High this fall, an openly-gay teen named Kevin Keller, the New York Post reported Friday.

  The hunky blond immediately catches rich girl Veronica’s eye, but he tells Archie’s buddy Jughead he is not interested.

  “It’s nothing against her. I’m gay,” he explains.

  Jughead urges him to wait to tell Veronica, and “mayhem and hilarity ensue,” the company said.

  “It’s a lot of fun,” said Dan Parent, who wrote and drew the story for “Veronica” No. 202, which will hit U.S. comic-book stores in September.

  Co-CEO of “Archie Comics,” Jon Goldwater, said the recurring character is being introduced in the family-friendly comic because, “we want to make sure Riverdale is a very inclusive place. We want to make sure everyone’s included in Archie’s world.”

  Both said they did not see the addition as controversial.

  “It’s not an issue like it would have been 20-30 years ago,” he said. “We’re not trying to send social messages. We just want to reflect what’s going on today. Riverdale’s a melting pot.”

  He added that people who are offended by seeing the Riverdale gang hang around with a gay teen “aren’t the kind of people we want reading our comics anyway.”

  And no one knows that better than Scarlett Johansson, who had to wear a skin-hugging bodysuit for “Iron Man 2”

  “I don’t think I’ve ever worn anything like it before. I mean, it’s a unitard … a sexy unitard,” Johansson told ET about her Black Widow costume.

  Even “Iron Man” himself could barely handle the sexy vixen’s wardrobe.

  David Hasselhoff laments golden era of Hollywood drinkers

  Recovering alcoholic David Hasselhoff moaned that getting drunk used to be “normal” in Hollywood’s golden era, The Sun reported Friday.

  The Baywatch star endured a public battle with booze for years and was taken to hospital on several occasions, including for alcohol poisoning in Oct. 2007.

  But the disgruntled actor said no one ever gave screen legend Humphrey Bogart any grief.

  The star — currently in Germany to promote his book “Making Waves: The Autobiography” — told Germany’s Bunte magazine: “Back then things were different.

  “Back then every star smoked and drank. Think of Richard Burton or Humphrey Bogart.

  “But nobody scrutinized them. Every kind of consumption was normal.”

  Hasselhoff, affectionately known as The Hoff, even admitted he thought his career would be over when he entered rehab in 2001 to seek help for his problems.

  His image was tarnished further in 2007 when an infamous video — filmed by his family — was leaked, showing him drunkenly writhing around on the floor trying to eat a cheeseburger.
