  • IDOL 411: Randy nastier than Simon on 'American Idol' ladies night

It was mean, it was funny and Simon didn’t say it.

The best line of Tuesday night’s “American Idol” came from nice-guy judge Randy Jackson in response to Paige Miles’ gloomy performance of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.”

“I felt like turning to Simon, Kara and Ellen and saying, ‘Are you guys gonna have the chicken, the beef or the shrimp?’” Randy joked, suggesting that Paige sounded like a background singer at a banquet. Ouch!

Simon had the second-best line of the night when he followed with, “The arrangement is something you’d hear in a Holiday Inn in 1974.” Double ouch!

Which of the girls deserves to be voted off this week? [Poll]

Needless to say, it doesn’t look good for Paige, who seems to have gone terribly downhill with Simon ever since she admitted that she likes to “color hippos” in her coloring book before the show. We still think it’s a little unfair that she got so little airtime during auditions, but she really doesn’t seem to have the unique quality that so many of the other girls have this year.

(By the way, who knew that Charlie Chaplin sang that song?)

  • Farrah left out of Oscar tribute to stars who died

    FOX 411 | Editor

    farrah

Commenters on our Foxnews.com Oscar Live Chat brought it to our attention that “Charlie’s Angel” Farrah Fawcett had been left out of the “Stars We Lost” tribute at the Oscars.

“What happened to a tribute to Farrah Fawcett?” one commenter asked.

Another confused commenter posted, “Did I miss it, or was Farrah Fawcett not in the memorial tribute?”

The segment, which opened with a portrait of Patrick Swayze, had no mention of Farrah, who died this past June after losing her long battle with cancer. She was 62.

Movie critic Roger Ebert also tweeted, “No Farrah in the memorial. They have a whole lot of ’splaining to do.”

Another odd thing about the tearful tribute? Demi Moore presented the segment that honored stars who died. Her husband Ashton Kutcher’s ex-fiance Brittany Murphy was one of the fallen stars whose photo flashed across the screen.

    It just seemed weird.

    nicole1

If you saw Joel Madden and Nicole Richie walk the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, you may have been wondering, “Um, what are they doing here?”

    We know the answer.

The Good Charlotte singer is deejaying the ceremony and brought along his gorgeous baby mama as arm candy.

He posted a picture of Nicole looking dotingly at the camera from what looks like the car on their way to the Kodak Theater.

The sweet tweet read: “Check out my date. Yes she’s mine. Feel like a winner. Feels like I won an oscar.”

    Awww.

  • Matthew Broderick, Molly Ringwald join fellow Brat Pack stars to honor John Hughes

    FOX 411 | Editor

    Oscars - Show

Molly Ringwald and Matthew Broderick presented a touching tribute to writer, director and producer extraordinaire John Hughes, who died in August from a fatal heart attack.

Hughes directed coming-of-age classics including “The Breakfast Club” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” He also wrote “Home Alone” and “Pretty in Pink,” among dozens of others.

Broderick credited Hughes for being responsible for his irresponsible teen alter ego. “Thanks to him for the last 25 years, every other day someone taps me on the shoulder and says, “Hey Ferris, is this your day off?”

After a brief montage with some of Hughes most memorable films, some of the Brat Packers he turned into bona fide stars – Macaulay Culkin, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and Jon Cryer – joined Ringwald and Broderick on stage to say a few words and honor Hughes’ family, who was in attendance.

It was a touching moment in an otherwise glib telecast.

  • RED CARPET EXCLUSIVE: Miley Cyrus has power to turn colors into champagne

    FOX 411 | Editor

    Miley-Cyrus500

Teen sensation Miley Cyrus stopped on the Oscar red carpet to talk to FoxNews.com about her champagne colored Jenny Packham dress.

“It was white,” she shared. “We changed the color to more of a champagne.”

The 17-year-old star, who walked the carpet with her mom, told us she wished she had a security detail to guard her dangling diamond earrings.

“I’m scared I’m going to lose them,” she confessed.

Miley, who was presenting an award, said she was “blessed to be here,” but had not seen many of the nominated films.

“I cant remember the last time I went to a movie theater,” the busy teen told FoxNews.com. “I don’t go out very often.”

  • RED CARPET EXCLUSIVE: Sandra Bullock not worried at all about acceptance speech length

    (Reuters)

Sandra Bullock is up for an Academy Award for ‘The Blind Side.”

Last night, she won another esteemed prize, a Razzie Award for worst actress in “All About Steve.”

“It’s appropriate,” she told FoxNews.com on the Academy Awards red carpet “It’s all relative and it should all be together. You can’t enjoy one without the other.”

Echoing Tim McGraw, the star said she found getting ready for the Oscars to be “very relaxing. I just sat in a chair while people plucked and folded.”

And when it comes to delivering an acceptance speech should she win, Sandra said she isn’t worried about the 45-second time limit.

“Look at how fast I talk,” she rattled off. “I can cram a life time of work in 45 seconds.”

  • RED CARPET EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Renner suspects 'opium epidemic' behind his nomination

    FOX 411 | Editor

    renner_500

Best Actor nominee Jeremy Renner was sweating it out at the Oscars.

    Literally.

The “Hurt Locker” star called the carpet “electric, a little sweaty, but otherwise fantastic.”

He was also a little confused as to how he ended up getting nominated for an Academy Award.

“How’d that happen?” he asked Foxnews.com.

    Maybe because you were great?

Nah, he has a better explanation.

“There might be an opium epidemic in the academy,” he joked.

But more than taking home an award himself, Renner was rooting for his director, Kathryn Bigelow.

“That is the one I’m praying for,” he said. “Out of the nine nominations, I need her to win. It will probably mean more to me than it will for her.”

  • RED CARPET EXCLUSIVE: Tim McGraw dubs insanity of Oscar red carpet 'relaxing'

    FOX 411 | Editor
    (Reuters)

    (Reuters)

Has anyone ever in the history of the world called the Academy Awards red carpet relaxing?

That’s how singer turned actor Tim McGraw sees it.

“Its awesome. Its very relaxing,” he told FoxNews.com. “[Faith] doesn’t have to perform. We can sit back and relax. We’re very excited about it.”

McGraw, who stars alongside Sandra Bullock in the Oscar nominated flick “The Blind Side” expanded on the theme, saying “this is a night off for us. We can just hang out and enjoy it.”

Tim’s gorgeous wife, in a black lacy gown, told FoxNews.com she was excited for her hubby and his recent flick.

“I’m so proud of Tim,” Hill said. “I’m so proud of the film, of Sandra [Bullock]. They’ve already won in my opinion.”

“Of course I’m rooting for [Sandra],” McGraw said. “There were a lot of great performances, but she’s a great girl and I think she did a great job.”
