  • Rosie O'Donnell to return to daytime TV, says report

Could Rosie O’Donnell be the woman who will fill Oprah Winfrey’s shoes?

It could be so, if the outspoken star has her way. O’Donnell is reportedly gearing up to make a return to daytime TV to fill the void when “The Oprah Winfrey Show” ends in 2011.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Donnell is teaming up with Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin for the new syndicated talk show. She previously hosted the successful “Rosie O’Donnell Show” and served as a host on “The View” before her exit in 2007.

O’Donnell’s new show would be set to launch in the fall of 2011, just as Oprah would end her run on ABC.

But while O’Donnell won several Emmys during her years on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” her public persona has since changed drastically, a fact that could spell trouble for her planned return.

According to the Reporter, the ABC stations that carried “Rosie” were thrilled with her early years as a host, but grew more uncomfortable toward the end of her six year run as she tackled more controversial and political topics.

O’Donnell last hosted a variety show that aired on NBC during the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday weekend that did not fare well in ratings.
