  • FOX411 EXCLUSIVE: Johnny Depp learns meaning of term "bromance"

Fox News taught Johnny Depp a new word.

The actor and his “Alice in Wonderland” director Tim Burton had never heard of the term “bromance.”

When asked about their “bromance” during a junket in Los Angeles, Depp tod Fox News, “I’ve never heard that term before” and then broke into a laughing fit.

    “That is shocking,” he continued.

Long-time friend Burton also found the term hilarious, quipping that it sounds like an antacid.

“I have an upset stomach, can I have some bromance to take care of that?” he joked.

All kidding aside, this actor-director duo have now worked together on seven blockbuster movies in over two decades including “Sweeney Todd,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Beetlejuice,” to name a few.

“I’ve said this before, working with Tim is like going home for me,” Depp who plays the Mad Hatter, told Fox News. “It’s where I feel most comfortable.” Working with an eclectic director like Burton gives Depp the chance to explore his character, he said, callin their collaboration “a situation where you’re not afraid to try new things.”

Burton also told Fox News a bit about his approach to Lewis Carroll’s surreal 1865 classic.

“The goal was to try to take this [classic], frame it in a story and let the characters that are in Alice in Wonderland shine,” he said. “Try to be true to the spirit, the weirdness and the beauty of these characters.”

    How bromantic.

    The film opens on Friday.
