  • Idol 411: Simon Cowell's best season premiere put-downs

    IDOL 411 |

    simon600

After watching Tuesday night’s “American Idol” ninth season premiere, our main thought was: How can this show possibly go on without Simon?

Former “Posh Spice” Victoria Beckham, or “V,” as she apparently goes by now, made a surprisingly sweet and likable guest judge, once you got past wondering how a 35-year-old woman could have such skinny arms.

Kara seemed more comfortable and confident than last season in her role playing the part of a younger, sassier, more lucid Paula Abdul, even stepping into Simon territory when she told one particularly annoying contestant: “I don’t like you … at all.”

    And Randy was … Randy.

But in a new interview with People magazine, the 23-year-old star is opening up about what could be a dangerous addiction to plastic surgery.

  • Idol Chatter: 'American Idol' returns with some Justins, some Janets

    FOX 411 | Editor

    janet600

The premiere of the the ninth season of ‘American Idol’ had some Justins, and it had some Janets.

Fox411.com’s own Diane Macedo (that’s her on the upper left corner there) is watching every episode and giving her exclusive recap the following morning on “Good Day New York.”

    First, the good: Justin.

Diane called the cancer survivor “the full package” and “an angel” who’s “easy on these eyes.”

    Indeed.

    Then, the bad: Janet.

In addition to her truly scary singing and dance moves, she called Kara [DioGuardi], Paula.

    Oops.

Get out Diane’s expert take on the inspired and insipid contestants from the first round of try-outs in the video below.

  • Report: Jay Leno may follow Conan O'Brien out of NBC

    FOX 411 | Editor

    conanleno600

Conan O’Brien may not be the only late-night talk show host at NBC who has had it up to here with the network’s bungling of their prime-time and late-night lineups.

Popeater.com is reporting that a source close to the “Jay Leno Show” said Leno is considering following O’Brien out of the network television laughingstock.

“Now that Conan has made it clear he is leaving the troubled network, Jay is considering doing the same. They have put Jay in a terrible position. It looks like he is the reason that Conan is now without a job. Jay is a great guy and it’s not fair that due to NBC’s stupidity he looks like the bad guy,” a source told the site.

To be clear, O’Brien has not said publicly at this time that he wants to leave NBC, just that he will not accomodate NBC’s proposal to host the “Tonight Show” at 12:05 a.m.

“How can [Leno] possibly trust the same network that canceled Conan after only seven months?” the source told Popeater.com.

    Good question.

At 3:31pm on January 15th, 2009, Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III landed an Airbus A320 in New York’s Hudson River.

    Everyone survived.

This week, the TLC network debuts “Brace for Impact,” a personal account of Sullenberger’s miraculous flight, narrated by Harrison Ford.

A year after his heroic landing of US Airways flight 1549, Fox411.com talked with “Sully” about his meeting with President Obama, how his miracle landing affects him today, and, of course, Jerry Seinfeld’s eyewitness view of the Miracle on the Hudson.

  • Conan O'Brien's Statement Turning Down NBC's Offer

    conan_stache640

    (Reuters)

Conan O’Brien says he will not do “The Tonight Show” if it airs at 12:05 a.m. He released the following statement Tuesday afternoon:

    People of Earth:

In the last few days, I’ve been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I’ve been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I’ve been absurdly lucky. That said, I’ve been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

  • Fox411 Survey Results: Conan O'Brien should dump NBC and come to FOX

    FOX 411 | Editor

    conanleno600

The people have spoken, and it wasn’t even close.

With almost 10,000 votes in so far, 88 percent of respondents to our Fox411.com Survey below say Conan O’Brien should walk away from the train wreck that is NBC late night and graze in FOX’s greener (ka-ching!) pastures.

Here is a smattering of comments made by Conan’s fans:

“I love Conan…He appeals to the younger auidence [sic] and my whole family loves watching him….for him to move his entire staff and family and this is how they treat him he should go to FOX where he can be even funnier…we will never stop watching Conan but they take himm [sic] off NBC and that channel is dead to us!!” - Tracy Keep Reading…
