  “American Idol” was its usual mix of naughty and nice in Wednesday night’s Dallas auditions episode … and nobody symbolized this better than 23-year-old Erica Rhodes, who will now be known as the girl who sang the “Barney” theme song while carrying a whip.

  Wearing a short latex dress and knee-high boots, Erica, who performed En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind,” made it quite clear that she is no longer the little girl who once appeared on the show about the kind-hearted purple dinosaur. But Erica also has a wholesome, pretty face and a big voice to go with her bad girl act … a winning combination that could take her very far in this competition.

  FOX411 Exclusive: 'Ugly Betty' canceled by ABC

  ‘Ugly Betty’ has been canceled.

  ABC just informed the staff that the show will not be renewed for another season.

  “It’s done,” a staffer tells FOX411.com. “It isn’t a huge surprise, but it’s still very upsetting. News just came down and everyone is pretty sad.”

  ABC confirmed to FOX411.com that this is their final season.

  Kiefer Heifer Scandal: Actor duped into investing in cow scheme

  “24” star Kiefer Sutherland is reportedly the victim of a beefy hoax.

  According to a report from PopEater.com, Sutherland spent almost $900G investing in Mexican cattle through Michael Wayne Carr, a cattle manager based out of California.  Or at least he thought.

  Sutherland was reportedly advised that Carr would purchase the cattle and resell them at a massive profit. But according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s office, no cows were ever purchased.

  John Edwards, Rielle Hunter sex tape made when she was pregnant?

  Andrew Young, one of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards’ former aides, has written a book, “The Politician,” due to hit bookshelves on February 2.

  In it, Young reveals how he was pressured into claiming paternity for Rielle Hunter’s daughter, Francis Quinn, the child who Edwards admitted last week to fathering.

  Young also includes descriptions in the book of a sex video featuring Edwards and Hunter that he says he saw, a source tells Fox411.com exclusively.

  “It is not a coincidence that John announced that Francis Quinn is his biological daughter with Rielle,” said the source. “He knows many secrets are coming out this week and with the book. There will be a lot of surprising things revealed over the next few weeks.”

  These were some of the urgent questions that were answered on Tuesday as “American Idol” searched for a superstar in Los Angeles.

  While guest judge Avril Lavigne stayed in character, playing her usual role as a bratty, post-adolescent punk rocker (and looking much younger than her 25 years in a hoodie sweatshirt with devil ears), fellow guest judge Katy Perry provided a more grown-up type of entertainment.

  IDOL 411: Tommy Mottola? Kanye West? The Situation? Who will replace Simon Cowell?

  We only added

  We’ve still got a whole season left of “American Idol,” but frenzied Simon Cowell replacement speculation is as ubiquitous as awkwardly shoehorned-in “Jersey Shore” references.

  Many of the initial possibilities seemed to be a confusing and bizarre mix of desperation and lack of judgment, like Snookie and “The Situation” in that hot tub.

  But now that a couple of weeks have passed since Simon’s big announcement about his departure from “Idol” at the end of this season, patterns have emerged, and we can more expertly assess and group the contenders, based on their likelihood of earning the coveted seat beside Randy, Ellen, and that other lady.

  Okay, that was a long way to go for that, we apologize, but bear with us.

  Kardashian is on the cover of the current OK! giving what seems to be an exclusive interview about losing a bunch of weight and looking great so soon after giving birth (her son, Mason Dash, was born December 14, 2009).

  P. Diddy throws son lavish party, keeps charity under wraps

  When entertainment mogul P. Diddy throws a party, he doesn’t seem to shy away from keeping the over-the-top displays of wealth a secret. But when it comes to charity, it’s a little harder to track down the details of where Diddy’s money goes.

  The music, television and fashion mogul gave son Justin Dior a massive Sweet Sixteen party Saturday, whose extravagant details and over-the-top displays of wealth will be featured on an upcoming episode of MTV’s hit “My Super Sweet 16.”

  And while his son turned over one of dad’s $10G cash gifts straight to Haiti charity Yele, the amount of Diddy’s donations aren’t as clear.

  Fox411 asked a rep for one of music’s richest men about the gift, to which she responded that Justin’s donation was “not indicative of the total amount his dad has given to the relief effort.”

  With a Joan Jett Barbie in stores and movie at Sundance, punk legend gets her close-up

  The world is one step closer to the second coming of the Godmother of Punk.

  This weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, “The Runaways” — starring “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart as the young Joan Jett alongside Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curie — got its world premiere. Music video director Floria Sigismondi made her feature film debut with her own script that tells the story of the short-lived but highly influential ’70s rock band.

  The Runaways were a ’70s teen group like no other. They were five girls who were as far as you could get from the sanitized, teen mag bubblegum pop of the time. The Runaways played loud, nasty unapologetic rock. They drank, threw punches, and could hang with the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. In Japan, the teenagers found the massive fame that eluded them in the U.S.
