  • Alec Baldwin: I'm a failure, but that's ok

    alec600

Alec Baldwin is a self-proclaimed loser.

The seasoned actor, 51, says he has had nearly two decades of professional and personal mistakes. And while you might think he is upset about that, he says he is perfectly zen now that he is happy with his professional and personal life.

Because for every failure, there was an even bigger comeback.

“I made films from about ’86 until ’99. And then things started to really wind down,” the actor tells Wired magazine. “When your fortunes ebb in the movie business, it’s like ‘The Sixth Sense.’ You’re dead and you don’t know it.”

But with his move to television, he found himself saved from those failures, and better for it.

“ ’30 Rock’ doesn’t have the biggest audience, but we have an audience. And my God, what a difference it makes,” Baldwin said.

And it wasn’t just his professional life that was a failure, but his personal life as well. On his divorce from Kim Basinger, Baldwin said, “It doesn’t really matter who’s to blame. But in many ways, my marriage mirrors my experience in the film business. I think to myself, how many years do I have left? What’s out there that I want to enjoy.”

As for the plus side to his divorce? Living his life according to his own rules.

“I said to myself, ‘Well, now I’m just going to have a good time. That was the most freeing thing.”
