In an interview Sunday, “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus said she has never seen the
“Twilight movies” and dissed fans of the film as being a cult.
When asked if she is a member of “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob,” she said,
“I’ve never seen it, nor will I ever. It’s a cult, I don’t believe in it. I don’t like vampires, I don’t like any of the stuff, I don’t like the wolf that pops out of my screen when I’m watching TV at night. I don’t like it, I don’t want anything to do with it, I don’t like the shirts, I don’t like any of the stuff.”
She went on to say that it was the success of the franchise that makes her hate it.
“I feel like, it’s like, people get like, really into it. People always like, fall in love with the characters … it makes me not like, I don’t know, I’m not into it.”
But it wasn’t the first time Miley took a dig at “Twilight.” In an interview with Teen Vogue earlier this year she said, “I’m not a huge Robert Pattinson fan. Girls aren’t really in love with Rob; they’re in love with [his ‘Twilight’ character] Edward.”
(Funny how she has never seen the movie, but she is quite familiar with the character?)
She later apologized via her now-defunct Twitter account.
“Gave a hug to Rob Pattinson today. Ok girls, I get it now. So cute. Sorry ‘Robby’ bout all my bashing in the past,” she Tweeted.
So does Miley have a point or is she just, as the kids say, "hating" on the film and its fans?
wow...is she really that stupid? she doesn't like Twilight's success? i could call her fans a cult because of her success. i didn't really think she was that stupid. it's just pure jealousy.
Do people really care this much about what famous people do and say? Sheesh. First of all, Miley is a child and as a child she's bound to say childish things. Secondly, she had to have known the amount of bashing she'd get for that comment and the way she dresses. She's an idol for little girls around the world, for goodness sake!
I don't think Miley is jealous at all. Let her have har opinion. I don't agree with her choice of words-but people do get obsessed.There is no sense in "not believing in it" because there is nothing to believe in. My friends have read the books and talked about and things Do get sexually explicit and it's ridiculous that they get suicidal-like that what kids need-they already get suicidal because being a teenager means your in an emotionall unstable state.
JEALOUSY. that is all i can say. i used to like watching hannah montana with my daughter, until i heard this. i guess the mobs of fans she has isnt so "cultish". i certainly wont be supporting the selfishness anymore with my money.
Here is another perfect example of Miley's big mouth getting her in trouble. Yes she is entitled to her own opinions but maybe it would be refreshing if she could for once make an "informed" opinion. I doubt she realizes many of her fans are also going to be fans of the Twilight books and movies. If she disses all the merchandising perhaps she needs to look at her own franchising enterprises. Shame on you Miley! I'd say "grow up" but you are after all just a child.
I think that miley is just jelious thet her show is not famous and she like is like being like a hater plus the fact that me and my friends took a shot every time she said like.
I think everyone should leave Miley alone and get a life of their own. I think she has a great show and an awesome career ahead of her. And it never seems to amaze me how people are so bothered by every little thing she does, says, or acts. She's entitled to her own opinions and thoughts. I personally am a huge fan of her and Hannah Montana, and I'm a boy. But I just thought I'd drop by and back my girl Miley up. And check you ''haters''.
