  • Report: Tom DeLay to quit 'Dancing With the Stars'

    FOX 411 | Editor

    Tom-DeLay

Tom DeLay is gearing up to quit ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” as a result of stress fractures in both of his feet, according to a report from People magazine.

The former Republican House Majority Leader will withdraw on tonight’s live results show, according to People.

He was advised by his doctors not to perform with partner Cheryl Burke on Monday’s show, but did so anyway. During the broadcast, he told fans and judges, “What’s a little pain when we can party.” While the judges praised him for his effort, he did not score well and finished second to last.

By the end of the night, DeLay was clearly suffering from his injuries, wrapping his feet in orthopedic booties, People reported.

“I ice them,” he said. “I’ve got a bone stimulator machine that I put on them.”

    Macy's Passport Fashion Show

Elizabeth Taylor will be heading to the hospital for a heart procedure.

The 77-year-old actress informed fans and friends of the pending procedure via a post on her Twitter page Tuesday. (Don’t worry, we did a double take too, she Twitters?) Taylor said she will undergo a “very new” type of operation to improve heart function that “involves repairing my leady valve using a clip device” as opposed to open-heart surgery.

“Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate,” Taylor wrote Tuesday, adding that she plans to inform her 155,944 Twitter followers when the procedure is complete. She did not say when or where she is having treatment.

A representative for Taylor did not immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.

  • Was David Letterman's latest apology enough?

    FOX 411 | Editor

    PEOPLE LETTERMAN RESTRAINING ORDER

For the second time, David Letterman apologized on air for his affairs with “Late Show” staffers.

His Monday night apology went much farther than Thursday’s, however, as he apologized directly to his wife and the women who work for him who have been affected by his behavior.

If this is sparking memories, it may be because he reacted similarly after offending Sarah Palin’s young daughter with lewd jokes. First, he made light of it. But when public opinion turned against him, he got serious.

Laura Bush takes in the exhibit 'Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs' at the Dallas Museum of Art a few weeks after handing over the White House.

Things have changed dramatically for Laura Bush since she and President George W. Bush left the White House nine months ago after two terms and eight tumultuous years.

This morning FOX411 caught up with the former first lady at the More Magazine Reinvention Convention (hosted by the magazine’s Editor in Chief, Lesley Jane Seymour), where she spoke to a group of women with daughter Jenna looking on.

In her talk, Mrs. Bush confessed that life changed the minute she departed Washington, and while there are a few things she really misses, first and foremost she’s now relishing her freedom.

“My husband is retired, my children are grown and out of the house, I still have my 90 year-old mother who I see all the time and I’m sort of free as a bird!” she said. “We knew what life was like after the Presidency thanks to George’s dad, George Sr. and mother, Barbara Bush. We went straight back to Midland, Texas and went to our ranch house with several couples of our best friends. That first night we knew everything had changed when George was out in the driveway directing all the luggage!”

“We have friends that have been our friends for our whole life,” she continued. “We are very fortunate. They are our friends before the White House and after the White House. It’s very important to cultivate those friendships.”

  • FOX411 EXCLUSIVE: Sources call Robert Halderman 'a nightmare,' David Letterman 'a big flirt'

    FOX 411 | Editor

    halderman

The man at the center of the alleged plot to extort $2 million from David Letterman was apparently not well-liked by some in the industry, a source close to a producer who worked with Robert Halderman tells FOX411.

The “48 Hours Mystery” producer pled not guilty to attempted grand larceny in Manhattan court on Friday, but an insider tells FOX411 that some who worked with him in the past were not surprised when they heard of his alleged involvement.

“People did not enjoy working with him,” said the source. “He was a nightmare to work with. It was easier to avoid him. No one that has worked with him before is too shocked [with the allegations].”

  • What's in a name, Britney?

    FOX 411 | Editor

    USA/

A new biography about the one and only Madam Britney Spears reveals that the pop princess has some unique aliases that she uses when she is traveling and staying at hotels.

In “Britney: Inside the Dream,” author Steve Dennis says Britney favors names like “Mrs. Alotta Warmheart.” Why, you might ask? Because she has a warm heart. How clever, Brit.

According to the New York Post, other names include “Mrs. Diana Prince,” in honor of Princess Diana of Wales and “Queen of the Fairy Dance,” because she was the “dancing fairy.”

Brit Brit has also used the name “Mrs. Abra Cadabra,” but the reason is unknown.

There are just too many jokes here and we think our brains have gone into overload.

Oh Britney, some things just never change.

  • James Franco to appear on 'General Hospital'

    FOX 411 | Editor

    Oscars Arrivals

Film roles must be hard to come by these days for actor James Franco.

The “Spiderman” and “Milk” actor is going to appear as a guest-star on ABC’s soap opera “General Hospital for a lengthy story arc this fall.

Don’t most movie stars begin their career on soaps and then go to films, rather than vice versa?

Franco will play a “mystery person” who comes to the fictional town of Port Charles. The recurring role will begin Nov. 20 — to coincide with November sweeps — and will last about two months.

Executive producer Jill Farren Phelps says it’s “an honor that an actor of Franco’s caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles.”

The 31-year-old Franco will star as Allen Ginsberg next year in the film “Howl.”

    FOX 411 | Editor
    (Reuters)

    (Reuters)

“Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi has a bun in the oven.

(Sorry, it was just too easy.)

“Model, author, and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America,” her rep told Us Magazine. “As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi’s privacy at this time.”

Endometriosis is a condition of the uterus that can cause infertility.

What her rep did not reveal was the baby’s father, only saying that reports naming Manu Nathan as the dad were false, as he is her cousin.
