Jessica Simpson lost her beloved pooch to a coyote in California last month, but she tells FOX411 she's staying strong with the help of her parents and friends. The 29 year-old singer is filming her new VH1 show "The Price of Beauty," and admits that traveling for the show is keeping her sane.
We caught up with Jessica at the QVC "FFany Shoes on Sale" event on Tuesday, where she was raising money for breast cancer research. "I want to use my celebrity to bring awareness," Simpson told FOX411. "My life is full of chaos and craziness, and my grandmother had the strength to pull through and fight through cancer, so if I can use my celebrity, or my shoes, or my brand to somehow bring awareness, I am here to help."
To help cope with the loss of 5 year-old Daisy, given to her as a gift by ex-husband Nick Lachey, and her recent break-up with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Jessica is keeping herself distracted with work.
"I've been traveling all over the world lately and I've worn caftans, I've been a geisha - I never thought I would wear those things, and I feel beautiful," she said. "My mom or my dad, my best friend Ken and my other best friend Cacee have been traveling with me for the show."
"Morocco was one of my favorite places in the world. We hung out with snake charmers! I thought it was incredibly beautiful how mysterious the women were there. They have sex appeal and power about them that is extremely mysterious and very covered," she continued. "They leave a lot to the imagination, and they only work with their eyes, and your eyes are the window to your soul. The women there have had a life of soul searching and really understand who they are. Moroccan women are the most beautiful I’ve been in contact with."
Simpson said feels great now, even though she no longer has time for hour-long workouts. "I’m running through airports right now, and the past week I lived in couscous - we’re trying all different kinds of food!" she said. "I'm feeling very comfortable in my own skin."
In fact, Simpson has been so busy that she's barely been able to catch her sister, Ashlee Simpson Wentz, on the new "Melrose Place."
"I’ve been using TIVO so much because I’ve been on the road!" she said "There are no limits for Ashlee. I look up to her."
Jessica's famous hair stylist Ken Paves also filled us in on her Moroccan look for the new show. "Jessica actually does her own make-up for the show - it's reality!" Paves telss FOX411. "I may pull her hair back in a ponytail, but she isn't doing hair and makeup. All of the countries we have visited celebrate women and their uniqueness and individuality. This definition of beauty in women is more about self and not what we do to the outside."
Her life is "full of chaos"? Gimme a break. She's just one of many celebrity women that got where she is on great looks but mediocre talent. Then when her looks change because she gains weight, people say that it's not fair to judge her. You can't have it both ways...if she didn't look great to begin with she wouldn't even be famous. She certainly didn't get famous on her voice - face it, this woman is no Susan Boyle.
If Jessica is fat, than skinny is too skinny - what is with this weight issue? What is sexy? Several decades early Jessica would be the top pinup when women looked like women and not like match sticks.
She looks great, and far better than other female movie stars that look like they are on an Ethiopian diet and have arms and legs that look like twigs!
Jessica is all women
Rich, spoiled, confused. Try living the life of the average American who is sweating bullets trying to find out how they are going to pay next month's rent or put food on the table for their family. Or pay their medical bills. I suggest for therapy you get out of your self absorbed lifestyle, quit looking for answers in the wrong places, and try to HELP someone less fortunate than you. Start a food drive, volunteer at a shelter, just give of yourself.
Wow a religious talk when we are looking at a celebrity. While it's true Muslim women are covered so that their beauty is not lusted for, it is nice to live in a country where women do not have to fear being killed for their sexuality by the majority of the population.I feel sorry for Jessica due to the press circus that surrounds her and every other celebrity. If we weren't so obsessed with the next best thing we'd all be better off
All you people who feel the need to tear down someone you don't even know are as airheaded and vapid as the stranger you're insulting. Get over yourselves.
If she and every other celeb would just find a regular guy they'd probably be happy. But they keep going for the ego'd out celeb who think women are a dime a dozen therefore trading them like dimes. Princes Diane is a good example she had to hang with a champange swilling playboy
I totally understand why she would be fascinated with those women. Contrary to what some ignorant of Islam think, Muslim women are to be respected and cherished by their families. They aren't exploited for their outter beauty or sexuality. The reason they are covered is to protect men from their own weaknenesses. They are intelligent and honored in their own right instead of for what others may think of their looks or figure. To someone like Jessica this is a gift she's never imagined before.
