While Jon Gosselin goes on a media blitz saying that soon-to-be ex-wife Kate Gosselin is falling apart and having trouble handling everything, friends tell FOX411 that its Jon who looks like he's in trouble.
After seeing him at his twins Mady and Cara's birthday last week, insiders say Jon is on edge, and may be beginning to crack under the pressure.
"Jon didn't shower or clean up for the birthday party. He looked like he was in clothes he had slept in the night before ," said an eyewitness. "He barely shaved and was a mess. He walked in with his own cake for the girls, but as Kate had promised, she made a traditional cake like she tries to do for every birthday."
Jon was also reading Kate's emails off his Blackberry to the paparazzi and even left the birthday party to walk across the lawn and talk to the paparazzi in the middle of the festivities, said our snitch.
"Jon is willing to talk to anyone and trust anyone. He is making a public mess out of their divorce and Kate will not participate in the mud-slinging," said a source. "After all she saw him doing, she actually felt a little sad for him and had intended to let him spend as many hours as he wanted with the girls. Kate sees him falling apart and she is still so angry with him, but she is beginning to see him unravel far more than she ever will. She acted as if everything was fine in front of the kids and was very nice to Jon."
A media insider adds that Jon's alliance with Michael Lohan and advisers Mark and Mike Heller is a bad move.
"He has aligned himself with the worst people, and everyone in the industry knows that you avoid them if you want real success," says the source. "They are willing to talk to anyone, believe all press is good press, and push him out for the world to devour as they collect payment. At all costs his personal life should remain private!"
Jon and Kate are too busy having a popularity contest to be parents to their children. They treat the children like paychecks. If Kate was such a great mom she wouldn't be allowing cameras to film every moment of her childrens lives and bashing their father to anyone in the media that will listen. Jon isn't much better but at least he isn't playing the victim.

Jon may look a mess, but Kate is a hot mess. She was a witch from the get-go and treated Jon like complete crap the entire run of the show. He looks worn out...which is what he probably is from all the years of living with and dealing with that shrew. No wonder he stepped out.
Ok, Jon's a jerk, I know. I haven't seen one comment that's positive toward him. I know divorce is crazy, especially with kids. But really? Grow up and handle it like an adult! Kate is handling it very well I think. However I find it inappropriate to go airing details on The View. At least she's taking care of the poor kids. They're the one's losing out. I think they need to step away from the public eye until they get things figured out as a family. And I'll say it once more...Grow up Jon!
You are full of it. They wouldn't hadn't gotten this famous if it wasn't for the fans they watch it. You wouldn't even know what was happening if you weren't interested what was going on. We love drama and you know that if it was just Kate just acting normal like every other family you wouldn't watch it. And if you all had a chance to make it better for your family and put them on tv while people wave money in your face you would do it. Don't act all goodie and all. She has to pay for the house
I think that all these stories about what is happening are exaggerated in order to sell mags! I think they are both trying to be celebrities instead of parents and their both out for two things...money and children who grow up to be teens with prescription drug problems!! Get a life people!!
You mean being examined under the bright lights on a 'reality' show 24/7 isn't natural for most folks?
Very odd and sick glee in reporting this issue. American media is very banal and shallow. And don't give me "it's waht people want". People should just dump cable as this is what fuels this whole thing. The more channels the cable cos. put out, the more they can say that they are just giving the public what they want. But who watches all the channels? Count how many channels you watch.
