April 6: Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson pose backstage at an 'Idol' fundraiser.

They may have seemed like arch enemies on the set of "American Idol," but everyone's favorite grumpy Brit Simon Cowell says the show will not be the same without Paula Abdul.

"I didn't want to get involved in what's going on because it wasn't really any of my business but I spoke to her a lot through the whole process," Cowell told FOXNews.com's Pop Tarts column. "She was the heart, so you've taken that away so it's a different show. I'm sad, I am."

Read on to hear more of Simon's thoughts and to see what Randy Jackson had to say about Paula's decision.

Cowell also said that he is confident Abdul will find success in whatever she does.

"I will support her in anything she wants to do next. I think she is TV gold, genuinely."

Co-host Randy Jackson echoed Simon's sentiments.

"Me and Ryan and Simon and her started this journey together, so I'm really shocked and really proud and really just couldn't believe she's not here," he told Tarts. "We love her, I'm sure she's going to be great whatever she decides to do."

Pay her what she's asking for. She is the spice of the show.

I agree with Simon. I don't believe Paula will fair as well on her own and I don't think American Idol will be the same without her. I didn't not like Kara. But I did like Paula. And who out there doesn't have some addictions throw the first stone. "She was the heart of the show."

Yessss

I for one am happy she is gone. I recorded all the episodes and had to fast forward each time she spoke it was so uncomfortable.

Idol without Paula is doomed. I will no longer watch the show. She brought a certain charm without her it will be missing. The three Paula, Simon and Randy were just great together. No matter who sits in for her it will never be the same.

After Season 7 i lost interest cause i found my true idol in David Cook. So Season 8 was kind of a sleeper. I will not be watching but instead following the career of my Idol and wishing him the best. Good luck Paula, let them stay with No personality Posh spice and lets see how far the show gets.

I enjoyed watching the antics of Paula and Simon and her funny comments. I am not looking forward to the show this year without her. I may not watch.
